I couldn’t get the song out of my head

Working as a paraprofessional in the special education department at my local elementary school I used my background as a songwriter to come up with ditties to get my students from place to place. The music made it easier and gave the kids something fun to do as we established routines for the day.

One of those songs stuck in my head and before I knew it I had embarked on an 18-month-long process of writing and illustrating my first children’s book, I Can’t Wait! As I worked on the book I knew that the song had to be part of the projects, so as I wrapped up the illustrations I entered the recording studio with a local musical wizard where we co-produced the song that I’d written and that started it all.

The process has changed my life and the result of it all is this new creative venture, Dirt Pixie Books. I hope you’ll find joy and inspiration in the work I create and share it with those you love.
